Every tournament week begins the same way — packing a suitcase, loading up the golf bag, and heading toward the next opportunity.

This week started with a flight out of San Diego as I made my way to Tampa, Florida for an NXXT Tour event in Dade City. While this tournament is important, it also serves as preparation for what’s coming next — two Monday qualifiers in California and Arizona.

Monday qualifiers are some of the most intense opportunities in professional golf. One round. One chance. And if you play well enough, you earn your way into an LPGA or Epson Tour event.

So this week in Florida is about preparation. It’s about learning where my game is right now and sharpening everything before those opportunities arrive.

The travel day itself was pretty straightforward. A five-hour flight across the country from San Diego to Tampa. Unfortunately the plane’s WiFi didn’t cooperate, so there were no movies or work distractions during the flight. Instead, it turned into a long stretch of time to think about the weeks ahead.

After landing around 4pm, my caddie and I grabbed our rental car and made the forty-five minute drive to Dade City.

Travel days in professional golf aren’t glamorous. The routine is simple.

Check into the hotel.

Drop the bags.

Grab dinner.

Grocery shop for the week.

Then it’s time to rest and get ready.

Because once practice rounds begin, the focus shifts entirely to the golf course.

Tomorrow the real work begins.
