Round 2 at Alaqua Country Club | From Four Under to a Fight Back

Round 2 at Alaqua Country Club had a little bit of everything.

I came out strong and had it to four under through 11 holes. Everything felt solid — good decisions, committed swings, and putts dropping. It was one of those stretches where the game feels easy.

And then… a triple.

There’s no pretty way to explain it. I kind of shot myself in the foot. It happens. It’s golf. But what mattered most was what happened next.

Instead of letting it snowball, I responded with a birdie on the short par five right after. That hole honestly changed the feel of the entire round. It reminded me that one bad hole doesn’t define the day unless you let it.

I stayed patient, stayed present, and finished the round with a birdie on 18 — a par three where I rolled in a long putt to close things out at 1 under for the day.

Was it perfect? No.

Was it resilient? Yes.

Rounds like this build confidence in a different way. Not because everything goes right — but because you prove to yourself you can recover when it doesn’t.

On to the next.
